STEPS 2009

Dear colleagues and friends,
It is a pleasure to invite you to the 2009 STEPS (Strategies & Trends in
European Pediatric Surgery) Seminar under the auspices of EUPSA (European
Pediatric Surgeons Association) to be held in Nijmegen, The Netherlands from
the 24-26th September 2009.
This year the meeting will deal with the topic of “Soft tissue injuries-
Abdominal & Thoracic trauma”. Experts with experience in pediatric organ
injuries have been invited to lecture on the types of injuries as well as
treatment concepts practiced to date.
STEPS encourages participants to share their views and experiences with
short oral presentations in the free paper session. A limited amount of free
papers will be accepted for this session (Submission deadline 30th May 2009).
On 24th September a Hands-on course on “Technique of Intra-medullary
nailing” will be offered to a limited number of participants. This one-day
course will include lectures and practical exercise sessions.
The lovely city of Nijmegen is considered to be the oldest city in The
Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 2005. The city with
a population of 160,000 inhabitants which offers a mix of history and modern
trends is an excellent venue for this years meeting.
Dr. Rene Wijnen and the local organizing team from Radboud University,
Nijmegen as well as the team of STEPS, welcome you to Nijmegen for STEPS
2009.
